Mobile Mapping & SLAM

Mobile systems capture LiDAR and imagery while moving—ideal for highways, rails, utilities, and city-scale digital twins. SLAM extends similar ideas where satellite positioning is absent: mines, buildings, and complex indoor spaces.

Vehicle-mounted (MLS)

Roads and rails at driving speed. GNSS/IMU couples with laser scanners; control from checkpoints limits drift. Compare with mobile mapping trucks product context and LiDAR fundamentals.

Backpack & handheld

Pedestrian speed for campuses, trails, and facilities—often SLAM-forward with GNSS when available. Great for areas a truck cannot reach.

When to choose static TLS

When you need maximum precision on discrete facades or tight volumes, tripod terrestrial LiDAR may beat mobile capture—budget time for registration.
